Who am I? A woman, mother, partner, sister, daughter, friend, social worker, helper, therapist, doula and a great listener…
What I BELIEVE ~
- I believe in compassion – and that you can never have enough.
- I believe in meeting people where they are – and moving forward together.
- I believe shame can kill – and that there are ways out, through and beyond.
- I believe addiction is a brain disease – and that there is a solution.
- I believe in true partnership – and that you are the expert of your life.
- I believe that recovery and mental health can be measured largely by our ability for meaningful relationships and our willingness to be vulnerable.
- I believe that most things worth doing take work, and that asking for help is hard.
- I believe we all have choices to make and there are many "right ways."
- I believe in transparency – we are only as sick as our secrets.
- I believe that as you give to the world, your eyes are opened.
- I believe things can get better, and recovery is EVERYWHERE.
I have worked as a therapist/counselor since 2003 and have worked in both residential and outpatient settings. Over the past 13 years I have worked primarily with adults, focusing on issues with substance use disorders, mental health disorders and a variety of therapeutic issues. I became a mother in 2007 and shortly thereafter was drawn into the birth world and pursed my DONA International Birth Doula Certification in 2009. My experience working with women and families in their childbearing years has enhanced my own work with my clients as I experienced firsthand the incredible need for support, compassion and resources for birth trauma and postpartum depression. I love the work I do and want to help people find their strength, balance and center and provide a safe and peaceful environment to do so.
I'm honored to offer assessments and individual counseling in my Kalamazoo office. I'd love to support you, please reach out.
